I am just going to share my experience with Asus's repair service for my g50v. First it took me a couple weeks to get my RMA number and a packing slip authorization. I had to contact customer support multiple times to get them to send me a label authorization. After that it was mostly smooth sailing for a while, although my package was confirmed as delivered on a thursday they didn't post it as recieved or in their possession for days, and that was only after I had to talk to a service rep to get my status confirmed and updated. The repair process went smoothly apparently and they shipped out my laptop. ONE MAJOR PROBLEM, they shipped it to the retailer I had bought my laptop from 2 years ago, apparently they didn't think that the address on the warranty of a registered owner superceded the address of one of their dealers. So my laptop started in minnesota, went to indiana, got repaired and is now in california after a failed delivery and is waiting to get rerouted back to minnesota.

Interesting story. Did you call Asus and ask why they decided to send your repaired laptop back to the store instead of you?

Yes, and I didn't get a concrete answer, all they said was that there were two addresses on file for the laptop, and so they chose the address of the distributor. Why they wouldn't send it to the address that was given for the RMA request is beyond me.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have to agree that ASUS's customer tech support isn't very good. Hope things work out in the end.

Well what a garbage experience, in the end nothing is fixed even though the technicians report said it was. The laptop still hits the 110 degree celsius mark when playing games even as basic as counter strike source. Never buying a laptop from asus again, it has been nothing but trouble and a run around experience with them.
