I just wanted to take the time to point out that while I know its been
like 2 years since this laptop came out there's somethings people might
    have been interested in knowing.

The initial dvd burner/drive that comes with it if it comes to a point where
it refuses to read some discs or all of a certain disc type (as common
sense as this may seem) don't waste anymore time trying to debug it
just replace the drive while keeping the face plate intact.

(The entire reason this came about was I couldn't burn a bios cd, which
no amount of changes to windows, searching for burner firmwares could
resolve, mainly because also that mastua or whatever their name is
doesn't have a firmware for my burner to begin with an that furthermore
panasonic I think is the parent company denies the existance of any such
model ever made from them or through the original manufacturer name.)

I personally wasted a considerable amount of time trying to look into
a way to fix my burner, I could not in the end.

Also.. the built in mic's love to take in all background noise during voice
chats or video recordings and a noise canceling mic is highly recommended.

Oh and about the built in camera, yeah.. mine came broken originally
with some sort of thermal ability that only went away when it was tapped
or moved a certain way. I had to send the entire laptop back to have the
built in camera replaced which was around 80$ via UPS at the time with
    insurance.

It also turns out that corsair ram is an incompatible choice for the C90s that
if used prevents you from over clocking the laptop until you replace it with
    another compatible type.

Lastly if you shut down an your screen doesn't lite up at all, don't assume
that the screen died.. its actually the video card if you had the 512 ddr2.

Oh one more thing.. if you start to see spots on your screen its prolly
because some idiot used windex on your laptop.. I've no idea how to fix this
and you might have to replace part of all of the screen.

I think that's it for now..

    yep
same here...with the video card problem.. 1 time

i've also a very annoying issue with the display modes on the c90s:
i've the standard, clone, dualview...but no Horizontal or vertical Span Mode
i try to re install everything from scratch(xp pro sp2...)
the Nvidia drivers from Aus, from Nvidia....nothing...
asus support answer: install Asus VGA drivers
Nvidia support answer:install latest nvidia drivers

please can anyone confirm this (of course you need a second monitor plugged to the VGA output to see this option and YOU NEED TO BE UNDER
XP because those display modes are not available under VISTA)

some feedback about this would be really helpful
    thanks

Is this a moan thread or something? I take it back if the OP is trying to help but it looks that way.

I think you guys were simply unlucky; my C90S had no problems with the camera or ddr2 8600MGT until I sold it 18 months later and I ran 4gb of corsair ram with no problems even OCed! Also the dvd drive worked perfectly and it ran both XP and vista with not a single issue. The mic problem is certainly an issue but what laptop is perfect. The failing 8600M GT's is certainly not restricted to this laptop either it was a universal problem with that card.

The C90S/P laptops rock and nothing else can beat them until now in the mid-range sector. E7500 + 9600M GT is still pretty top of the range in a laptop which is 2.5 years old and the upgrades haven't even stopped yet.

    ok solved
    you need to do this:
    For Win XP 32: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/xp/191.66/disclaimer

    1. On the following page, click on "Click here to download the requested driver." to download and save the driver file on to your Desktop.
    2. Also, click on "Click here to download the modified INF file." to download and save the Modded INF file on to your Desktop.
    3. Once both the required files are downloaded, Please create a folder on the desktop.
    4. Run the file by double-clicking on the file.

You will first be prompted by a license agreement. Once you have read the license agreement, you may proceed to the next step if you choose so. The Install shield will then prompt you for a location where the install files should be extracted to. Please Click on the Change button then select the folder, which you have created on the desktop then click on OK.

Now proceed by clicking on the "Next" button. The files will be extracted to the location given by you.

Next, go to the folder where the files were extracted to. You will find several files in this folder.

    5. Now please copy the modded INF file that you have saved on to the Desktop and paste it to the new folder where you have extracted the driver files. If you will get any "file replace message" then click on yes to replace the original driver INF file.

    6. Lastly, you will find Setup File in this Folder. Just double click the Setup file and install the drivers.
    bye
