Well, actually only the plastic around the left hinge has almost given up to the rigors of carrying the thing around daily for 11 months now.

When the screen is open, as the first picture illustrates, the crack is narrow.

But whenever I try to close the screen, it widens up and gets a little bit bigger every time. Soon there will be a chunk out of the damn thing

The question is would this count as a warranty case? Basically the whole lower chassis has to be replaced etc.?

Also, whenever you are thinking of buying a F3 you plan on carrying around daily, I suggest you think twice...

Well, you could try to claim warranty on this thing... The hinges on the A8J models that had issues were usually fixed from the warranty.

Technically, this is wear&tear and the warranty doesn't cover it but you might get lucky.

Agreed. Don't buy an F or an A if you want to carry it around every day.

ASUS seems to be having serious quality issues. Not to say that other manufacturers do not.

But, ASUS used to be the quality leader. Not anymore I guess.

Well, I wouldn't judge them in such a straightforward fashion.

ASUS nowadays makes two types of laptops. Budget laptops like the F and A, which are less than stellar in build quality; and business laptops, like the Ws and the Vs, which are top-notch.

You only get what you pay for...
