My laptop has not been able to go into standby or hibernate mode after I used CCleaner to scan and fix my Registry issues. When I try and put my laptop into standby, the screen just shuts off but the lights, harddrive, and fans are all still on. The same thign happens when I try and put it into hibernate mode. I have to manually restart it after I put it into standby/hibernate everytime now. Before I did the registry scan, I did a backup, but when I double click my backup file, it says "are you sure you want to add the infomation... to the registry" I click yes, it says its been added to the registry, I restart but when I try and standby, the problem is still there.

I tried system restore numerous times, tried updating my drivers, uninstalled CCleaner but nothing works.

I am using an Asus G50VT-X1 with Windows XP 32bit, This version is not supported by Asus so I couldnt find any BIOS updates or anything. Please help!

(Sorry for the tiny rant,I have grown to actually like vista X64 on my X1(shockingly))
Tiny Q....Why on earth are you using 32 bit windows!?
The G50 does not have XP drivers,it is not designed for XP,and if you ask me,it is one of the more snappy Vista machines out there,so it does not require it,
In fact all speed advantages you gained by going XP has cost you 1GB of ram and an incompatible OS.
    (end rant)
I would typically not mess with things like an registry cleaner, windows does not require CCleaner to work fine. My finds have found that fixes do more worse than good.
Try an system restore for your sleep issue.

This exact problem occurred with my Asus F3Sv almost two years ago. I sent it to Asus, as it was still under warranty, and they installed a new motherboard & attached graphics card. Worked fine afterwards. I hope you are still under warranty...

Hmm... Did you have to install drivers for your motherboard (chipset) earlier? Try reinstalling them perhaps.

Also maybe the ATK drivers as well, as they may be required for good power management.

Many components can prevent entering low-power modes (standby, hibernation) if they cannot themselves enter low-power modes due to registry errors. You can try reinstalling drivers for hardware such as GPU, wireless, etc.
