I bought the k53e about 2-3 months ago, and have been pleased with its performance, mostly. i mostly use my laptop for gaming, and i have sinced realized that i cannot replace the integrated graphics system it comes with. that being said, i wanted to return it, but the 30 day period already expired, so i just dealt with the fact that i would be stuck with it.
However, last night, my laptop wouldn't charge correctly. what i mean by this is that i would have to wiggle the power cord around in the port and find the right spot for it to stay charging. this is quite annoying and i'm sure is covered under the manufacturer's warranty (i'm pretty sure the problem is with the laptop, not the ac adapter).
My question is, is there any way i'd be able to return it so i could get a new laptop? or would i just have to settle for a repair?

no, i was wondering if i could return it because it was defective, not just have it repaired.

That would depend on your retailer's return policy.

If you send it to ASUS they will repair it.

Usually you will have to go to the place of purchase to return or get a refund.

When you send the unit in for RMA service depends on the repair facility if they will replace the entire board or just replace the dc pin connector. Usually they will replace the dc pin connector with a new one.
