I haven't had much time to play with it yet [ :(] since we have guests and I had to back to work [ :(!]

But I did unpack it, power it up, and tweak a few windows settings. [^]

Very first impressions: Feels about the same size and weight as my 15" Gateway 450. The overall design and fit/finish is excellent. If you are into cars, it's like how much tighter and cleaner a german car tends to feel compared to the average american car. The black and silver tends to accentuate that. I also love the LEDs of different colors and the rich blue lighted ring around the power button. It's kind of a cross between very executive and very outer space!

I don't have a read yet on speed. Of course it feels snappy, but it also is a clean windows install. I haven't mucked it all up with this and that yet. The screen seems just fine.

Powernotebooks was very helpful, pleasant, and accomodating during sale and delivery. They even shipped it with Sun's Java and Win XP SP2 installed. It has the Asus factory utilities installed, drivers for the ATI and Intel wireless, etc., and an OEM version of Nero. Not alot of junk to get rid of and make we want to do a fresh format and install. That's a nice

So, I'll be transferring stuff over to it tomorrow and will gather more impressions, take some pics, etc., before posting a full review in the review section.

    Stay tuned!

Let me also enter a heart felt THANK YOU! to all the folks on these and notebookforums.com forums. We're all so obsessive It's so hard to shop when you can't see things things man to machine so all this input has been invaluable.

I'm presently deciding between an Asus M6BNe or a Compal CL56 based laptop. Any suggestions in this case?

I checked powernotebooks.com (they sell the CL56 under the powerpro brand) but I cannot find the Asus M6BNe on their site... any idea what's going on?

    Thanks
