I just got my M6NE, and I must say I am overall pretty happy with this laptop. It is nice machine. Couple of things:

    1. 2 dead pixels...kinda a bummer, don't know what to do about it, if I can do anything about it. It hardly shows, but as you guys know, it just kinda sucks.

    2. Wireless issues. I cannot get the Wireless to work on this laptop. Can someone help me out here? I got the machine w/o XP, and installed XP last night. In the device manager the wireless card (2200BG, I assume) showed up as an unknown lan device, I installed, the drivers. The drivers recognized the card, but it still had issuess, the OS said it wasn't right. I then installed Intel Proset, hoping that would fix it...nothing. I know that you are supposed to be able to hit FN+F2 to turn it on, or the wireless button next to the power. Neither of these work. I have had quite a bit of experience installing drivers...I just can't figure this one out.

I do plan on putting linux on this machine also, have it dual boot. But that is another project for another day...

    Thanks

    Woody

If the OS says something's not right, then you have a problem still, so none of the other features will work.

When you do get it installed correctly, you have a choice between letting Windows manage the wireless network, or Intel Proset. I think the wireless toggle button only works with Intel Proset. I'm still getting used to my M6Ne, but that's what I've observed so far.

You should probably uninstall whatever driver you installed, and then reinstall Intel Proset. I installed Windows XP by itself, then Intel Proset, without installing any other wireless driver, and it works fine. You may be able to get things working just by hitting "Update Driver" and pointing it at the Intel Proset files on the CD.

    Thanks Highlander for repsonding.

I am fighting again with this thing tonight. I am getting a strange error. When I hitthe Wireless button to enable the wireless card, or hit FN+F2, I the the error "Unable to load the Intel Sebring API, please install the ProSet Utility." Of course, I have installed the ProSet utility, it is in taskbar.

I just can't seem to figure this one out...

Maybe you should just start over. A fresh WXP install, and then the Proset stuff...

Maybe you can remove the wireless device from the Device Manager and restart the pc so it will detect a new device and install from there.

Thanks again guys for responding. I have tried re-installing the drivers. Then I just decided to re-install Windows XP all together, then the ProSet stuff. No luck.

I found this link on google groups, only problem is, I don't speak German:

    http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&threadm=ed7d6dfe.0402020528.467dcdc1%40posting.google.com&rnum=1&prev=/groups%3Fq%3Dsebring%2520api%2520proset%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26sa%3DN%26tab%3Dwg

Anyone know what it says, and if they had a solution? I am about ready to DL Linux, and see if I can get the card to work there, just so I know the card isn't bad.

I got the same error message when I switched to leting windows manage my wireless card. This must disable the intel pro set for some reason. If I restart then the problem goes away.
As for the web link in german, try bablefishing it over at http://babelfish.altavista.com/

I would also try starting from scratch with a clean boot of XP. As a side note did you not get a recovery CD with the notebook? My M6Ne came ready to go fully loaded and with a recovery cd, so much easier than stuffing around with getting the drivers right.
