Hi All
I recently purchased an M6ne and have had the following issues.
1. 1 dead pixel. Annoying but not critical.
2. DVD-R will report 4x burn in Nero but take over 20 minutes (indicating 2x burn)
I am not overly fussed by the pixel but the DVD-R is really annoying. I have asked Asus if there is a firmware update to this burner that may fix my issue.
As for my overall thoughts of this notebook, I am really impressed.
It is fast, battery lasts ages, screen is beautiful (even with dead pixel) and I have had no other issues.

Hi,
Please excuse my ignorance, but shouldn't they change over your laptop on account of the dead pixel?

With most manufacturers 1 dead pixel is not enough. Normally you have to have 5 dead ones within a small area before they will replace.

I understand some of ASUS's Laptops have a no dead pixel policy... you should def check with the place you bought it... remember the 30 day rule ... everything is returnable within 30 days... hehe
"Good luck with that!" -
The store i'm about to buy my M6Ne from (Computer World, Melbourne, Australia) says that Asus has a 3 dead pixel rule.
I might double check though to make sure before I buy!
Grrrreat site this! []

Hi rara,
I bought my m6ne from computer world in Richmond. No dead pixels on mine, but there was discussion with them. No 30 day policy there or anywhere really... I read the warranty stuff from asus and there is this thing about 3 dead pixels etc... Just ask them to turn the laptop on for an inspection before you hand over the cash...
I love my new laptop btw... It rox! -
Brayjosh,
Sorry to hear that your having these problems with your new unit. The issue would the dead pixel, if there is a return policy, I'd go that route. They're correct that most companies will not swap/replace if it doesn't have a certain number of dead pixels. SO I'd go see if I can get it exchanged.
Regarding the DVD burner. I had a similar issue on my HP burning CDR's. I was told by support to use specific media (brand name) and also that the drive burns in a Zoned CLV method. It will increase speeds at specific sections of the discs like how stair look like until it reaches the max speed at the end of the burn. Nero has a utility that comes with the program that will check the performance of the disc. It'll give you a graph on how it looks like when burning, what speeds, for how long, etc... If your drive is Z-CLV, there is no solution, this is how the drive is designed.
