about $1600 i suppose, bought the hd and ram through deals online/ebay and that doesnt include the seperate warranty

the cpu i bought from btotech, otherwise the warranty wouldnt of been valid, too bad too cuz ebay was much cheaper.

i do advise to get 250gb though, its quite nice :) went from 100 to 250 and i now have a seperate 100gb partition

I also say get the 250gb drive. I love mine, very cool running and fast, all the space is so needed when your a media freak (and use triple boot like I do)

Oh Kickace, I think you need to change your sig, you dont have 4gb of ram in there do you?

Well, I have the same questions. Wouldn't all the drivers already be installed on the computer if I had GenTech build it for me?

Awhile, I think abit over a week, however I had all my own stuff in there so Ken did alot of testing on it. If you used Gentechs things when you bought it, it should be faster as they can just swap it for another product that works and send it back out.

They have alot of C90 work, and then the V1S just came out too... So I dont want to give you a false optimistic view on how fast it will be. So its best to just forget about it if you can (I started reading books, im now addicted to harry potter and on the 6th book lol)

I ended up buying a 2nd gb of Nanya ram and a e6600 from them. Its the newer e6600 that uses half the power at idle so my temps should be way down now, and I sort of gave up on a working 2+1gb config of memory after going thru so much ram trying to get it to work.

When I get my stuff back later today I'll have to see if i can sell my 2gb Gskill and e6700. They both work perfectly, just not so well with the C90.

I cant believe asus droped the ball so bad with the c90, all of these problems are falling on the resellers like gentech, its got to be causing them alot of pain and frustration. I cant say that I regret my purchase tho, I got the c90 in hopes of a very strong machine but at a lower cost than a traditional notebook, after all the extra things I had to buy I dont think I saved any money at all im probably close to 2000$ but it appeals to me in a way that the G1S and other notebooks didnt so it was the right purchase, and even tho we may be behind say the G1S in 3dmark and gaming scores a small bit, I think that will be fixed when the ATI HD2600XT comes out in mxmII format :p

Its just a question on how many of us want to spend 200$ for a gpu upgrade.

er yeah, same with me I sent my 4gb kit back and got refunded except the shipping (27$...) but if somebody reads that they will think 4gb works and it doesnt so you should probably change it.....

Yeah I had no idea what went wrong with my c90. I blame it on a defective gpu, I can't come up with any other conclusion, just gonna have to wait and see. Lol good luck with harry potter series , read the last one a week ago and as a fan I was very very dissapointed. Download Bleach anime to bide my time.

Hell I'll pay 200 for the gpu upgrade, since the c90 cost me 1550 another 200 and its still a good amount cheaper then the g1 not to mention the macbook pro.

I am contemplating getting a C90s with a E6600 and wondering how cool they run compared to G1S T7500 for most tasks. I don't play games for long periods at a time. Mostly web stuff and design and writing - stuff that doesn't tax the machine. I want speed for the occasional times far and few between when I do want to play Flight sim games.

From what I read about the E6600, there are two models, the SL9ZL, which uses 12 watts at idle and the SL9S8, which uses 22 watts at idle. But from the spec page at Intel, the SL9S8 can be throttled down to 0.850 volts and the SL9ZL can only be throttled down to 1.187 volts, so why is less watts better when lower throttle voltage can be a achieved with the other CPU?? Seems to me that the lower voltage CPU should throttle to create less heat.

Here are the specs on both:

The new bios will will equalize all the idle wattage use to 12 watts for both processors.

Hey vfrjim - good job on finding that info. I purchased a 6600 with mine also. It will be interesting to see which one I have. UPS said mine will arrive tomorrow. Hello Forerunner - did you hear something that hasn't been posted? :wideeyed: Sounds like you have the inside track.

Well, I can take only partial credit because Ken from GenTech told me that there was 2 different model of E6600's and I wanted to find out which one that I already have so Google and a search on Intel's website was a necessity.
