Those cpu temps are great and the cpu score is normal, but gpu score is god awful, something is wrong with that.

He ran the test at 1920x1080. I'm pretty sure that's a normal score for that resolution.

    Then run OCCT CPU Linpack.

Nice ES QGNG QX9300 by the way. How much did you pick it up for?

OCCT is for stress testing your CPU and GPU. Download the .zip file. CPU Linpack is equivalent to IntelBurnTest and GPU OCCT is equivalent to Furmark. OCCT also allows you to output clean looking graph logs of your sessions.

What I'm saying is, if your CPU is starting to get hot past 88*C from running 90% memory usage, then use 50% instead. No program will ever put such a load on your CPU that 90% is simulating.

$237 for an ES QX9300 is an insane deal man. You have officially beat my snipe of $380 for my OEM QX9300.

In your case, your ES QX9300 is identical to my OEM QX9300 in every way with the exception of the price that we paid for them.

As for your graph, what was the ACPI peak temp when OCCT terminated the stress test? Also, that graph is only for core #0.

As long as the CPU itself doesn't exceed 88*C, you're fine. What I want to know is when during the CPU test is the ACPI peaking as it is the one that controls the CPU failsafe behaviors.

On a side note though, lower resolution is better for testing the CPU.

They used to cost less at around $400 until everyone in the Alienware forum started buying them when the M17x came out.

One year from now, the Sandy Bridge quads will be out, and in two years something even better will be out. The QX9300 will probably level back down to $400 by then, but I wouldn't think it would be worth it.

Ya, in two years you could almost get a whole new laptop for $400 that would be as fast as yours with the upgrade.

dont takes things out of proportion. 400USD will NOT buy you estimated retail 1700USD laptop 2yrs from now. the best 400USD will get you in future will still be an awesome netbook/good 15.6" with integrated gfx and decent CPU.

but no way in hell im paying 400USD 2 yrs from now for a QX9300. <= 200 and i'll consider...

Ya, I was exaggerating a little, but I guess everybody gets the picture. The gaming video cards seem to be the main thing that keeps the price point higher though.
