Hey guy! i really need some helps on this. today, i tried to burn a mp3 data disc (CD-r) from my new w2v, and after i finished adding music and clicked burn bottom, nero just popped out an error message right away. It said burn process failed at 24x (3,600kb/s). At first, i though it was the problem that caused by burning files, so i tryied to burn with other type of files, and same error message popped out again. Then i though it may due to the burning software, so i reinstalled nero and retested it. Again, same thing happened. I even tried to burn with window media palyer, and seems like my w2v just can't burn any type of CD-R. however, my w2v works great on burning DVD disc. Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem, or do i get the defected product?

Specifically what error message message are you getting? What drive is it? Try some different discs. See if there are any firmware or ide drvier updates. If you want to try some other software, CDBurnerXP is free and works well for the basic stuff.

Did you try burning at slower speeds - 16X or even 8X?

Sometimes that happens with bad media. I had to chuck away 60% of a cheap lot of cd-r's I bought once from a no-name promotion. Turned out they where bad.
I only buy good brands now, no problems anymore........

thx guys. i have tried to used slower burning speed, such as 8x, but with no luck, the Nero just showed up an error message right after i clicked the burning bottom. The error message doesn't specially tell me what type of error. it only says "burn process failed at 24x/8x (3600kbs)". Beside, i didn't use the cheap brand CD-R. i used memorx and maxell, and both didn't work!! :(

    To Zanoz
i tryied the software Cdburnerxp, it didn't work too, but i think the error message was more specfic than Nero. The error message says "Title:Cdburner xp pro 3- critical writing error: (3) error occurred writing datat to disc. Aflaw exists in the power calibration area(1048). error sense Data Key:3asc:73 ascq:3"

Power Calibration usually is a media error.

Try some different discs. Taiyo Yudens are the best CD-Rs. You can get them at places like Rima.com.

After reading all your comments I definitely think there's something wrong with your burner. Call Asus....

In the inital window that Nero opens when you first start the program there's two tabs in the top right hand corner. One is for CD-R the other is for DVD's. Maybe you have this set to the wrong type? Althought I wouldn't have thought this would effect Media Player it might be worth checking before you take your laptop back or anything drastic like that.

I think this might just be a software problem. Try going to your device manager and check your cd drive properties; my burner once said the same thing, so I messed with some settings in there and somehow it was fixed. Does it say any other error then Burning Process Failed? It usually gives a reason for why it fails, such as buffer underrun etc.
