I got my W3J for about a month now, and recently I tried to install Windows Vista RC1, I had chosen to clean install instead of upgrade. Everything was fine but my bluetooth can't be detected, my Intel ProSet/Wireless (wifi) driver is not compatible with Vista and also power4gear is not working as well. I'm aware that there are some compatibility issues especially with W3J. It's ok for me if bluetooth is not working or nor not having the compatible driver for my wifi (I can still connect and browse the net at reasonable speed  ). I'm more concern with the power4gear because I use battery most of the time :( . I hope anyone can give me advice regarding this, I'm still thinking if I'm going to keep Vista or just switch back to XP........ Is it worth using Vista or not?????

I do feel the power settings allowed in Vista should allow you to perform whatever you want in power4gear already. You can set almost everything inside vista already....even the processor power management.....=)

    My bluetooth works perfectly fine....hmm...

There is no need to install Intel Proset/wireless in vista to get things working. ...vista installs the drivers for you automatically...

Anyway I'm using Vista RC2 on W3J....not sure if that can cause the difference....

Vista RC2 is superior to RC1 in many ways. Less buggy, stability, etc.

My W3J installed Vista the first time I tried, but there wasnt enough drivers yet when i did it so i changed back to XP. But Vista looks way better than XP =) If only those hotkeys and P4G worked properly or i'd be using it right now.

I thought so too... I remember reading it several times, most recently in the graininess/fuzziness sticky thread up top which contains the most recent BIOS... . Hmm, if I had known, I would have sampled Vista on my W3J before I put so much time into setting it up properly.

What's all this free beta testing for MS...all their RC's are basically beta tests if you ask me...just wait a little while and get Vista Ultimate.

If I'm not wrong, Vista Ultimate is already part of RC1 and RC2 and just depends on whether your hardware is sufficient.

And Vista RTM is out if you know where to get it.

I just installed Vista Ultimate (RTM version) on my W3j last night (in-place) upgrade, and it seems to work pretty well. I haven't played too much with it, but the Power Settings seem to be very customizable. I did have 2 issues:

    1) My sound doesn't work. Oddly enough, the HD Audio that the upgrade advisor warned me wouldn't work seems to be active (though I don't have the digital out connected to test it), but the analog card doesn't show up, so the internal speakers don't work.

    2) The card reader doesn't seem to work properly when the DVD drive is active, but this was a problem I had w/ XP. I think the Card Reader doesn't like the fact that I have a C: & D: drive for the HD, and the DVD is E:, but again, I don't think that's specifically Vista...

Once I have some more time I will re-examine the issues above.
