i have a a w3v and for a few months had been playing up. meaning i have to press the "on" button several times before it starts. now it wont start at all. nothing. blank screen. no blue light around the button. this is both on battery and ac power.
funny thing is that the w3v has the ability of playing cds without it booting into windows. i can actually play audio cd and the keyboard/on button lights up.
any suggestions on what to do next? unfortunately it is out of warrant.

As far as I know the CD player function works directly with only the BIOS and CPU, so I'm not sure that's really proving that much works. There are a lot of possible things to try, reseating the memory, resetting the BIOS, checking that all the fans are working... but it could be anything really, it's too non-specific to diagnose from your post. Does it beep when you turn it on?

If you can play audio cd's you know it's powering on, at least I would assume that's the case.
Have you tried hooking it up to an external monitor to see if you can see what's happening? -
thanks all. unfortunately there is not much else to go by. the notebook wont turn on at all. no beeps, no hard disk noise, no fan noise. nothing.
however when i use the buttons to eject/play cd, the hard drive starts up, fan starts up, computer beeps. the screen stays off as expected. -

I'm assuming you already tried reseating the memory or swapping out the modules? It sounds like it could be some kind of hardware failure, but there are a few things to try, like resetting the BIOS to defaults and seeing if it'll power on without the battery on AC power alone or the opposite, without AC on battery only. Does your W3V have a BIOS reset hole on the bottom? If there is try poking it with a paperclip for 10+ seconds. Otherwise you can find the battery somewhere in the chassis, it'll be either a CR2032 or a small battery pack that needs to be removed for a couple of seconds to reset the BIOS settings. Here are some pics for reference:

If resetting the BIOS doesn't do it, it could be a problem with the motherboard or GPU. -
thanks for all the suggestions.
unfortuantely, none worked. it probably is a motherboard problem.
