Feels realy good to have it home even if the clerk that sold it to me looked a bit suprised when i paid for it with cash. The bad thing is that i lost the money i orginaly planned to buy the w3j with on the swedish stock exchange that went down faster then a shoot duck. ;)

Then only think i dislike is the shutlines and woblieness around the battery, the weight and the position of the fn key(used to have ctrl on the bottom left). Without tha battery(cd drive in) it weighed in at 2.2kg, with the battery i got with it 2.6kg. If you walk around with the power kit and a mouse you are around 3kg and that is a bit much for me. The orginal partions is a bit weird to, c with windows on 54.8 gig and d with nothing on 36.4. I would like around 10-20 for windows and the rest for all the things i throw in. But partion magic will solve this small issue for me with out a problem i think.

The screen, keyboard and overall quilty is good in my book. But some of the keys sound weird when you strike them but i guess i get used to it. Nice to get a decent bag with it aswell.

Hm norway, i live in sweden what whats up with that

Not the best pictures(used the cam on my cellphone), but the card reader in the notebook works great.

Its a sony ericsson w810i with a 2 mega pixel cam and auto focus. I think that the colors get weird if it aint a lot of light to offer and thats not the case indoors.

Yeah I can see your W800i in your little pic Coriolis!!! I'm about to buy a Sony K750i in black or the W810 (also in black)...The 800i is a great phone, I just can't get passed the orange and white colour scheme, no offense! What do you guys think of your Sony Ericsson phones overall???

Is there any possibility that you're not locking the battery in place properly? When I first put the battery into the V6V, It clicked in without a problem and was solid, but when I did the EXACT same thing with the W5a's battery, one side was loose and wobbly...turns out that each side has a small switch/clip...On the W5a, one of the two didn't automatically slide itself into place...I had to hold it in place and then release it when the battery was aligned for that one side to stay in place firmly. Just curious if that might be what's happening on the W3J's??? :)

regarding the battery, my z63 has the same "problem". it is a gimmicky battery position, so i guess the latching mechanisms are slightly misaligned.

Hey I have a K750i and my girlfriend has W800i, from using them both cosmetically they are different, but opreational the only difference is that the W800i can start as a mp3 player without booting the phone (so you an listen on the plane).

But great phone especially when you load it with a 2GB memory stick!! great multi functionality, photos are good in outside during the day, but it adds lots of noise when taking photos in low light, otherwise its all good!

    sory for going off topic

Why does the whole bottom half of your screen look so faded compared to the top half in that last pic.I hope it doesn't always look like that.

Thanks NZ. Since you have access to them both, if you had to do it over again, which would you buy? I can get the K750i for $370, so It would also be about $30 bucks cheaper than the 800i, if that makes a difference. I don't know If I want to spend an extra $130 to get the 810i over the K750i.

Man that W3J is still looking mighty tempting...I don't know If I'll be able to wait out the W7J's release to make a final decision. :)

I think that the battery is locking in to place as its suposed to. The problem is that the area that is in full contact to support and stabilize the battery is pretty small but that is what you get with "exlusive battery position" i guess.

About the screen looking faded in the picture is just in the picture not when you use it.

And i cant understand how the w810 could be so expensive in some of your countries, here it was just over(10-30$) the w800 when it was realeased. And i could recomend it, it has all that i need in a small and nice formfactor.

Another desturbing thing is that you cant open the screen single handed. You must hold the bottom part down or it tips over, darn magnets.

To little desk  or to much stuff

I suppose holding the bottom part down while opening the screen is a small price to pay for the latchless design. On the bright side, it's like that because the hinge is so stiff and solid :)

Yeah, I noticed that too. Does it really look like that in real life Tegis?

Anyway, great pics man. W3J certainly doesn't look as bad as I originally thought.

The magnetic switch is also present on the V6va, but I really like it :p

Sure, its hard to open, but its much cooler :D

    btw: w800i is about $360 retail, w800i is $470 :p

The screens looks good and aint faded.

One thing i noticed when i watched a tv show on it last night was that the top corners looked a bit darker from some angles but i havent spent enough time with it to realy know if its something that will annoy me. Another thing i noticed at the same time is that the loud speakers are on the week side but you cant get evreything i guess

Im glad you liked the pics and maybee i will take some more if i find something about i like or dislike.

How wobbly is this battery? Does it feel very insecure or is it something you don't notice unless you push and pull at it? When you're just handling it normally, does the battery jiggle around?

It doesnt feel insecure but it does move if you are holding it ore take it up from a bag. Not much but enough to feel it and hear it. Have looked a couple of times to see if i have mounted it so it locks in place correctly and it does. Im not afraid it will break but it is far from good.

And when the rest of the product is so solid it feels stupid to have a design for the battery that is far from that.

Also tried 3d mark 05 on my stock machine and got 3920 with all the standard crap running. New drivers for the graphic card should get me over 4000 i guess.

Yeah, the V6V I have also requires two hands to open it properly. At first I thought It was a little annoying but now I think It's a good thing. It will prevent it from small things getting inside and scratching the screen or keys for one...and It also provides you with a very stiff hinge for ideal viewing angle placements etc for another...It ads to the overall feeling of high end/excellent build quality. It's definitely an easy thing to get used to for anyone thinking of it as a negative. :)

All this talk about, wobbly batteries, is it really that bad? if mine wobbles I think it would be easy to buy some of that adhesive 1mm foam and stick it to the battery or chassis to just to take up any slack

No it really isn't that bad; I wish I could make a video of the "wobble" (lol) It's not a deal breaker for me but with the great build quality the W3J has it seems a bit obvious.

EDIT: Just made a small vid of the now infamous "wobble" (used my mobile phone) where can I host it? The file size is 187KB

If this battery thing is like the w3v and z63a it cant even be concidered a wobble. If you pick the machine up it wont wobble. If you grab the battery with your hand and pull it will move a milimeter. it doesnt rattle or anything. Not like sony laptops.

It is exactly like SRD said, I checked this today. When I hold laptop there is no movement, only if I grab battery it is a little wobble so really there is not you should worry about.

My battery is pretty much equal to the one in the video that Kal showed. But overall its a solid notebook and im sure the wobbly battery wont couse any problems apart from the feel that it could have been done better.

    I agree. :)

It looks loose but only if you move it around yourself ;) When carrying it around it doesn't move, it's only when I shake it vigorously that I hear the battery knocking the chassis lol :D It doesn't bother me.

BTW is the trackpad on EU W3J's different from NA ones? The trackpad on mine (UK) has tiny silver/white dots on a black background and there's a single button which is dead in the middle and clicks at both ends. The trackpad on the notebook in the W3 screensaver (which I love BTW :D ) has a lovely aluminium(or alumnium looking) buttons with a light in between and aplain silver trackpad - it looks hella sexy!

Realy coming to like evrey aspect of this notebook now when i loaded it with the stuff i use. Have to install some games to try out the power of the x1600 aswell. Maybee far cry or another good fps game.

Hooked it up with the plasma screen and it looks good.

Have to get my bluetooth keyboard working with the notebook and then get wlan where i live and then evreything will be to my liking and i will be able to use the couch and plasma a bit more.

The powerbutton is beutiful and its a realy good place to have it at
