I JUST got this laptop last week, but it's almost always very very hot on the right side of the keyboard. I ran the Intel Thermal Analysis tool and the LOWEST I get is 55C, but I'm usually around 75C when gaming or doing anything the least bit demanding. Is this normal or safe? I saw the post about the tape inside a couple days ago, but there's no way I'm voiding my warranty for that. If this is just the reality of the G1's power, is there any good method of notebook cooling that I could use when I'm at home?

Right side of the keyboard is the harddrive. If you have a 5400rpm drive, mine is 52C idle and during gaming.

I'm running into the same issue. Since Vista with its index feature and such, there's hardly a time when the drive is off.

Mine is also at 55C, but the indexing, I'm not sure since the HDD light is always off.

My 7200RPM runs mid to high 50's all the time, warm but not too hot. Guess I got used to hot climates.

55-75 are normal temps. avg of 60C at idel has been the norm with inel mobile over the years. If your fan is throtling i would not be concerned. make sure to clean the radiator every 2000 hours of use to ensure optimal fan performance
