I got this thing back from rma maybe like a month ago with no issues. Now all of a sudden, the screen randomly has this red/pink static like effect and it goes away if I lightly hit the back of the screen. But it comes back a few seconds later.
What is the issue? Is it a wiring issue? Or is it defective?

Sounds like the cable may be coming loose from the connector into the panel.

thx for the reply. Instead of lightly tapping the back, I sort of grasped the bottom left and right of the screen and kinda pulled with my left and pushed with my right and the pink static seems to go off and on constantly so I think it is the cable.
Not really sure how to go about fixing it though. Maybe I"ll try to open it tomorrow and see if I can get to it. -

You would need to remove the bezel around the display:
ASUS G73 Disassembly Procedure – part 2 | Laptop Part Tips
and examine the connection. You should not need to remove it from the base, just make sure all power is disconnected. -
Ended up doing it early in the morning. It is now 3:47am xD
I think I managed to fix it. I ended up having to open up the lcd area. In the back of the LCD, there was a cable connected with a bunch of tape and a sign that said "do not touch." I pushed my finger on that connector and sure enough that was the issue. I was scared to attempt to take the tape/cable out (or rather make sure it was connected properly) so Instead I applied more tape and it seems to be doing well.
Wish I tried that first. I ended up taking the keyboard out and checking connections there too. I managed to put it back together but I'm missing some screws Q_Q
Also, I put a big screw where it didn't belong and managed to make 2 bubble like bumps on the top of my laptop Q_Q
but its working now so I'm happy.
edit - I would like to address another issue. I have a very small white line on the top left of my screen. I'm not sure if its a white pixel. Normally their circular or a small dot but this one is a small line. If it is a white pixel, what is the best way to remove it?
My screen is acting up!
