    :(

I awaited long and hard after playing hide and seek from the fedex man. Yesterday, I finally opened my z70va, with its sleek and sexy exterior and that beautiful screen, oh that beautiful screen..but wait....what is this? A black screen comes on with the windows xp and then I see the dreaded red ghost of the xp insignia..NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
My beautiful precious z70va has the dreaded red ghost :-( I am gonna cry....

Sorry to hear about this from you, this is a main issue of z70va!!!!!
Try to contact Asus whether they can replace the LCD panel for you.

hahaha... i'm sorry to hear about your misfortune pengapine, i really am. I just found the way you said that funny. I feel like all us z70va are now being haunted by this halloween red ghost...

AND YOU THOUGHT THE REGULAR WHITE GHOSTS ARE SCARY! You haven't seen anything yet kids.... feast your eyes on the RED GHOST!

haha... but seriously, that's a pain in the @$$ and I cannot wait until Asus (hopefully) solves this problem. Anyone know what kind of screens are in powerbooks? I haven't had my z70va side by side with one, but from a distance, they look REALLY NICE.

I called Asus this morning, as per instructions from Gwen from ISNTC. The asus guy was very helpful and sympathetic. He tried to explain to me that several of these laptop screens are being shipped to Taiwan for examination. I got a product case number...so hopeful Gwen can handle the rest from here...plz plz plz...fix my beautiful z70va!

The contrast and brightness idea works until you physically turn up the screen brightness im in a very well lit room and I turned up the screen brightness all the way and the red ghosting is VERY noticable around the edges, the weird thing is it stops about 2 inchs into the screen and i mean stops from a very noticable ghosting to nothing. Its most noticeable at the top portion and bottom left side of the screen.

I think it's possible that some screens have an issue with either a color balance or something else.... but it's very obvious that other screens certainly have an issue... whether it's a refresh problem or just the use of a 2nd or 3rd option screen (what's often used by computer companies when their 1 choice is running low or out for the month....) ........ Asus will get to the bottom of it, if for no other reason, because we're all still talking about it and some dealers (us at least) have refused to order any of the stock that Asus still has that may very well be affected by this issue........

You have to believe that they want to figure this out jus as bad as the rest of us because they have their money riding this it as well.
