A couple of F-series models with the 220m are also up for quite a bit less.
I couldn't believe there wasn't more talk of this, it's the first 40nm GPUs to actually hit the market. Now we need someone to buy it and benchmark.

Yup I ordered one

What is the big deal about the card?
-
Also, is this faster then the ati 4650?
-
Both cards are 128 bit, GT240 ought to be a bit slower than 9700m GTS, which is about same speed as 4650. Means both cards are similarly performing, however 4650 may have the edge.
But Ati's mobility driver isn't always great, where as for NV, you get arguably more mature driver releases more often; plus all the bonus of stuff, like Cuda, PhysX support; not to mention it's 40nm - potentially more power friendly. -
the 240M is a bit disappointing. I have already seen benchmarks. It is the same mid range level performance as usual, just a tad bit more due to the increase of the sps.
The HD4670 GDDR3 should remain king for now. Still, at least it is a small upgrade.
Also, ATi has the CUDA competition etc, called FireStream or something like that, and also soon will have physics so it doesn't really matter.
I believe the 240M should have been GDDR5, that way it would have the performance of a 9700M GTS and be actually decent for mid-high gaming. -
I think itl be pretty good, its still a high end card.
Stream tech is good though, i dont know about cuda but when the stream processors on an ati card are used properly, 2 hour video conversions and so on can be cut down to like 7 minutes etc, but then it depends on the conversion types and so on. -
Read quite a few reviews, saying that Ati's GPU accelerated video app is quicker - though Avivo Converter produce sub-par output defeating the whole purpose whereas NV's badaboom is considerably better in output quality, however lack multiGPU support.

If the 240M had GDDR5, it could easily be a great mid range card with the level of performance that the 9700M GTS has, and clearly, they would have outclassed the HD4670. But again, we have "strong" sounding names, with subpar performance.
