I've been considering getting the N53SV. It looks great, and my only concern is the battery life. Now, it being shipped with 6 cell isn't much of a problem if I soon-ish might be able to get my hands on a real OEM 9 cell battery.
It seems however, that ASUS' support on the component area outside of the US and Canada is pretty crappy. You pretty much have to rely on third party handlers getting the batteries.
Does any of you have some earlier experience with Asus, and know how common it is for them to also release 9 cell batteries for their laptops that ship with 6? Also, how many months does it usually take for them to start selling replacement batteries - I see the Asus North America store still does not supply N53-series batteries.

Ovatius, welcome to NBR!
From what i've seen if the model is released with just one battery option thats how it normally will stay. There are not much computers that will have additional battery sizes released at a later date. I think this is mostly because of limitations on the size of battery pack. Releasing a battery with more cells would require a bigger pack and people just seem to stay away from that since it ruins the clean, flush look.
You can usually get extra batteries at the same time the computer is released, granted they will be the same size (6 cell) -
I have been looking into the same thing and apparently as well as the original 6 cell 4400mAh battery you can now get a 9 cell 7200mAh battery (e.g. #shop1#) and some newer variants seem to be shipping with 6 cell 5200 mAh variant (e.g. #shop2#).
I will be double checking that these batteries do in fact match my new laptop before purchasing them, I would recommend you do the same - I am no expert in battery compatibility and would welcome anyone who is able to put right any of the above. -
On reviewing I notice keywords 'real OEM' in original reply and 'compatible' in my link. Ho hum.
