    Hello!
I use external monitor via HDMI. Playing BF3 I made it run in 1400x1050 resolution, so it would be a 4:3 picture on 16:9 FHD 24'' display. I made a proportional scaling and got black columns on sides. It's normal, but what is not it's that thise columns are a way darker that the black colors on the picture.
I changed the monitor (BenQ EW2430) setting to RGB 16~235 and got it to be the same blackness. But when I turn on the true 0~255 on my monitor I just can't bear this gray stuff between two black columns.
I wanna see everything in full RGB!
I turned ext.mon. off and took a look at internal display: it's just gray as hell and no border whatsoever, everything is in 16~235.
I plugged in PS3 through the same HDMI and got it black as pitch (static contrast of my MVA-display is more than 3000:1).
In Intel graphic settings it's "Full" but it's 16~235 no matter what.
When NVIDIA starts it's no difference as I see. And watching films on NVIDIA GPU with "Full RGB" on it control panel is still this gray stuff all over.

I can't and don't want to believe that laptop can't output a 0~255 RGB signal.
    Somebody help!

    It's nonsense I've plugged through D-sub and it's perfectly black !!!
    What a shame with HDMI!
