I know the touch pad issue has been discussed in a couple of other threads, but I am curious to see how prevalent the issue is. My main issue is the the edge of the touch pad that is next to the keyboard is not flush with the surface of the laptop. It is a little higher. If I gently push down on that edge it will become flush but eventually goes back to been raised.
So, my question is:
how many of you have the same problem where the touch pad is not flush with the surface of the laptop? I am asking because I am trying to decided if I should return mine. Thanks

I bought the only n56vz with no issues. Sorry!
No, seriously, return it until you get one that works. -
Dmayner, my problem seems to be the opposite of yours. The bottom part of my touchpad is slightly sunken, so that I can't really click on it. Instead, I've had to resort to simply tapping the center of the touchpad to click or use an external mouse. Should the touchpad on the ASUS N56VZ be slightly sunken/raised, or is this a defect?

Nipsen,
I am probably going to do that, but I was wondering when yours was manufactured? It seems it is the ones produced in May that I have my issue. Thanks. -
Not sure. But I think mine was from the first batch as well.

There is a tag on the bottom of computer that tells when it was made. BTW, thanks for all your great input.

Got mine few days ago and I have a similar issue with the touch pad. The edge of the touch pad next to the keyboard is little bit raised and the touch pad also feels that it is a bit loose. I can too press the higher part of the touch pad down but it will raise back by it's own. Other than that I'm very satisfied with the product, top quality. I will check later when mine is manufactured...

Got my n56vz-ds71 yesterday. Have a similar issue. The lower right corner of the touchpad pops out a little bit. In addition to that, the aluminum plate between the space bar and touchpad is noticeably sunken. I'll send a complaint to amazon.com, let's see what they will do. Other than the touchpad issue, I am pretty happy with the laptop now. FYI, the manufacture date of my n56vz is June 2012.

Touchpads on Asus's N-series suck a lot, according to most people. Just look at all the reviews.
