Trying to upgrade this Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium laptop with a Crucial MX200 SSD. Cloned original hard drive successfully using EaseUS, but when I put the new SSD in place and tried to boot, I got a 0xc0000225 error. Tried booting from Windows 7 recovery disk and repair startup, no success. Need help sorting it out, not sure what to do next. Anybody have a similar problem and was able to solve it? I've been searching for an answer but no success so far. TIA.

Try cloning with Macrium Reflect or some other cloning software.

That's an option, MR should work. Alternative is to repair the boot record (that's the error code) using Windows PE.

If you can do a clean install that would be best. We often hear of errors when cloning from HDD to SSD even if the software says its made for it. Most of the time you will have a working system faster then trying to fix errors.

Thanks for all the replies, excellent suggestions. As it turns out, updating EaseUS to the latest version and then using startup repair did the trick. I still get the error when trying to get into the repair my computer option, but I'll probably have to do a BCD store tweak for that one. It's not crucial (pun intended) since I can always boot from a recovery CD if it gets to needing that.
