I just received my N56VZ-S4027V, but I'm having some problems with it. Upon first taking it out of the box I plugged it in to charge up the battery before use. To my surprise the hard drive spun up and the LEDs turned on, so I opened the lid to find the laptop had started already! After some troubleshooting it seems to turn it self on automatically as soon as the AC cord is inserted, regardless of whether or not the lid is open or the power button is pressed. Attempting to turn the laptop off when on AC power only results in a restart. Once AC power is removed and the laptop is on battery, it can be turned on an off as usual.

    ?

So far I've tried restoring default BIOS values, and reflashing the BIOS to the latest version. Neither helped. Any ideas? I'd prefer not to have to send it in already. :(

It sounds to me like a short, which unfortunately would require an RMA being the easiest fix. I'd go ahead and contact your resellers service team and ask for details concerning this.

Send it back to your retailer for an exchange.

Hello, my name is Scott, I am with the Asus Customer Loyalty team. Based on what you describe, and the fact that the unit is effectively brand new, I would suggest you exchange it for a new unit with whomever you bought it from.

You may also optionally contact Asus support in Norway at: 0047-2316-2682 hours are 9AM-7PM Monday-Friday.

If you experience any difficulties then feel free to send me a PM or email and I will try and help you as best I can. [email protected]
