    Hi

My laptop currently idles at 70 degrees. The only application I am running is outlook. I do not do any gaming on this laptop.

Is the temp ok or is it too hot for a laptop doing very little?

    Thanks in advance.

    Mike

That's pretty hot @idle for not running any apps, my N73JQ idles @37-39c, is the fan running? have you updated to the latest BIOS? check for any services running in the background you're not aware of?

If that is 70 degrees Celsius, that seems pretty hot for idle

My N61 idles at 50-55 degrees Celsius. Usually I see 70 degree temps when playing lower end games like CSS

Yep that is Celsius. I am running Microsoft Security Essentials to see if there is any malware etc causing background issues. Current temp is 90 degree Celsius.

I'd check to see what processes are running in your task manager and identify the processes that show abnormally high CPU usage. 70-90C is not the norm for an idling system unless your ambient temps are in the mid to high 30s
