Hi. I am looking to replace my laptop that was stolen by my husband :). I have/had a Dell XPS 1530. I liked the Dell a lot but I had a problem with it just weeks before the warrenty expired (luckily!). I was in the middle of finishing up the bookwork for our small business and I was 8 months pregnant so the timing was really bad. I had to pay extra for onsite support because I could not wait to ship it somewhere. The problem was a very known problem and they still shipped the Dell's with the faulty power supply that corrupts the motherboard for charging the battery so I am looking at another brand.

I am not a gamer but I am a heavy user. I do a lot at once and get very frustrated at waiting and such for things to happen. I know this one has some battery time issues but 2 hours is plenty for me so I am not concerned at all about that. I like a good display but the absolute best is not really needed. I do wish the harddrive was a bit bigger because I am a bit lazy and don't move a lot of my downloads to an external (plus I like to keep them seeding). I do leave the laptop on for long periods of time because of this.

    Thank you for your help.

    Mary Jo

N61J sounds like a good choice! Battery life is OK and is fast enough for the more-than-average user like you!

Thank you! I really like the 24 month warrenty and the price here is just under 1100 which is fab. Almost too good to be true :). I am heading to Bestbuy today to test the one they have there for feel. If it passes the touch I think I will order. PC Canada confirmed the 24 month thing so all is good so far :).
