I bought this laptop a couple days ago. Everything was fine until I realized that the DVD drive has disappeared from 'My Computer' and the computer is unable to read my USB drives anymore. I reinstalled the system with the recovery disk provided and found that the problem occurs right after Windows Update was completed. Did anyone run into similar problems? Any help would be appreciated.

Note: there is nothing wrong with the DVD drive itself. Also, it seems that there is something wrong with WPD FileSystem Volume Driver that is causing the USB failure.

I've had that happen before on other laptops. It's a pain, and I never figured out what caused it.

happened to me as well. Probably due to Windows 7 update.

The BlueTooth was disabled, USB not accessible except for the USB 3 slot.

After disabling and reinstalling the bluetooth driver (I have a Lenovo BT mouse) and disabling and enabling USB, things magically started working again. Can't say what specifically caused it to work again.
