I had a dual boot N76VZ (windows 8 and Ubuntu) using UEFI grub2. I decided earlier today that I didn't need the dual boot and wanted to remove grub entirely. But instead of mounting the ESP and deleting the efi files (as I should have done), I chose to edit the boot options in the bios and deleted the Ubuntu boot option thinking the Windows Boot option that was already there would suffice. Unfortunately, I'm now unable to boot anything. All I get is a blank black screen. No ASUS splash and pressing F2 doesn't to get into the BIOS doesn't seem to work. I've tried booting without any hard drives. I've tried booting Ubuntu off a linux key. I've tried booting with the Windows disk. Nothing. It just powers on and stays black. I'm actually starting to think that the problem is more serious than having edited the boot options. I believe I had the latest firmware installed and maybe the secure boot is not allowing me to F2 into the bios (I did it earlier today by doing a shutdown with options from Windows). Is there any way to get the BIOS screen? I really hope I haven't "bricked" my machine. How can I get into the BIOS? I was told I could just hold the power button for a few minutes and it would reset the BIOS but when I hold it, it just powers on then powers down. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
