I've owned a Asus N80Vb (upgraded to gf 9650M GT, a 7200rpm hard drive, and a lower voltage/higher operating temp CPU salvaged from a dead fujitsu tablet pc) for years, and my battery (a A32-A8 6 cell rated 11.1v/4800mah) is starting to give up the ghost (poor thing). Surprisingly I am still using this machine and it's never let me down even once. Considering this battery is from 2008 and I used it a heck of a lot I'd say it did better than average.
The battery from Asus' estore isn't officially listed under my model but I think it's the same thing as the part number on my battery reads 07G016R9186AM-00000-825-4A41 , but I am put off as they charge $119 for it, which seems slightly high.
I looked towards amazon but quickly found out that all is not what it seems, as there are a lot of vendors that post a OEM battery picture and don't necessarily sell you a original battery. Some descriptions go as far off as to say it's a 9 cell battery or list 14.4V instead of the 11.1 that's on my battery(!). So if you have an experience with any of these companies specifically for this laptop, I'd love to know. A $25-$50 battery really seems tempting, but if it only lasts a month, or worse, creates a firepit on the corner of my laptop, it wouldn't obviously be worth the savings.![]()
