I've just purchased an N80Vn-X1, but due to some software incompatibilities I will probably have to install XP. I have been searching the forum for the process, but I'm apparently looking in all the wrong places. Could someone provide the specific steps required to do so and locations that I can find the appropriate drivers? Thx.

Ok, I followed those steps and everything seems to be working fine except the WiFi. I can't get it to work..

I downloaded the Intel 5000 ABGN drivers but no wifi device is detected..
What should i do to fix this? Thanks.

Do you have Intel wireless? Because you might have Atheros wireless instead, drivers which Ken linked to above:

Did you try anonymous / email address for the FTP login?

    Scratch that, it doesn't work.

Perhaps PM Ken (GenTechPC), maybe it's his FTP server and he misconfigured something.

The links that require a login name/password seems to be for Realtek drivers. Another alternative is to download directly from the realtek website.

Wow, thank you GenTech for that info - I now have XP on my X83VM-X1 (best buy model)! I didn't mind 64 bit Vista - but slow shutdown was getting on my nerves and the fact my school's wireless print driver is only 32 bit.

I did want to mention (for those who may not know they exist with the same laptop as I) that I'm using nVidia's XP beta driver, which came out April 30th.

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winxp_185.81_beta.html

For wifi, I found an Intel wifi driver for XP - and it works works pretty well.
