Ok, so I finally decided to get my x5. Love it..perfect for my needs. But this danged keyboard lag is annoying. I've been reading on this thing for months and months, but I don't think Ive ever seen a solution. BIOS is at it latest, as are all the drivers (I think?). Is there a fix?

Do you have a synaptics touchpad? If so, uninstall the touchpad driver and see if that helps with the lag.

Well it seems as if it has been fixed! I looked at a g50 post about fixing it..which made me turn off all the advanced pointer settings. This didn't really fix it, so I completely uninstalled the synaptic driver. I am not getting any lag anymore. Still not used to the keyboard as Ive been using a desktop for the past 7 years, and this is my first laptop. But no more lag, so yay. Thank you sir~

No fixes, because half the time Asus won't acknowledge there is a problem.

    Only workarounds.

I agree that uninstalling the Synaptics drivers fixes the keyboard lag. Unfortunately, with no Synaptics drivers, for me the touchpad then becomes hyper-sensitive to palm rests, and I am constantly getting ghost "enter" and other actions while typing. This is almost as disruptive as the keyboard lag.

Since there is no mouse/touchpad interface to turn off the touchpad while using a mouse, the only alternative is to completely turn off the touchpad in the BIOS. However, there are times when I can't easily use a mouse, so this isn't a good solution either.

Does anyone have any suggestions, such as how to tweak the touchpad without the Synaptics drivers?

    Many thanks.

There are also other proposed solutions; on other models, some people have fixed this by installing recent BIOS versions together with updated ATK drivers and utilities, for instance. So you could try this as well.

Also have a look at the G50V owner's lounge and the links in the first post; there is more info on that model since it's more popular. See also the M50 keyboard lag thread linked from the Info Booth under the "Miscellaneous" category.

the program your looking for is called touchfreeze. its free and the download should be the first hit you get if you google it. it runs in the background and prevents the cursor from hopping, jumping lines or position due to unintentional brushes against the touchpad. basically the entire issue of sensitivity to the touchpad dissappears.
