    Hi everyone,

does anyone have any information about a possible N81 refresh, perhaps with a Mobility HD 5650? That'd be a very nice item to wait for. Has anything like this appeared in any of Asus' road maps?

I haven't heard that, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were true. They have had a $100 mail-in rebate since December for the N81VP-D2.

the other N series notebooks are being equipped with the 5730, so if it were to happen anytime soon I'd imagine it would be that card.

Nice. I think when this refresh comes out I just might buy one. Time to sell the G1Sn before it's so old it becomes unsellable. How's the battery life on the N81VP-D2? Do you think getting something like P8700 and HD 5650 would help the battery life?

Bump ~~ the N61 with the HD 5730 is already out, think maybe a 14.1" with 5650 might be on the way? I mean it can't be that hard, if they can put a 4650 in there I'm pretty sure 5650 would work too since it has an even lower TDP (something like 19W on the 5650 and 30W on the 4650?)

WOW! What timing! Holy cow. I just ordered a X83 with the HD 4650 and canceled it YESTERDAY because of massive buyer's remorse and the fact that they were only able to meet my price match request half way... seems like I made a super good decision!

I'm super stoked too. Wonder what the release price will be. At least, considering the N61 with the Core i7 and HD Mobility 5730 has already been released and is for sale at NCIX http://ncix.com/products/?sku=50004&vpn=N61JQ-A1&manufacture=ASUS for only $1150 CAD... I bet this N82 won't be too expensive either!

Of course, for Mr. Falle4ngel, if he wants the girl along with the laptop, he'd have to cough up a lot more... especially with Valentine's day right around the corner ;)

aha I don't think I'd have enough left to buy the N82. Truly a dilemma :(. Joking aside, this laptop couldn't have been announced at a better time. As long as its around 1100 CAD I'll scoop it up :D.

Well, I have no idea what they'll put in there. Just guessing, though, a 5650 makes sense. Then again, I think the 5650 is probably only like 10% slower than the 5730 or something. Same card, according to ATI's site.

Have you tried running 3DMark06 and Vantage at 1280x1024 on the N81? I've always been curious as to what the HD 4650 would get.

Where did it say it had a 5650? Ah well, even if it is that's sufficient for my light gaming needs.

The N82 actually looks nicer than the N81. Unfortunately, it looks like the brown is here to stay.

I wonder if the N82 can switch the to the integrated IntelHD.
This would be quite the feature....well depends on the chipset of the motherboard.
I also wonder whether the display quality improved...

I see. I hope the HD 5650 combined with the i7 will get 8k. That's assuming, though, that this is indeed what the N82 will get :p

It would seem the N82 they're featuring is capable of switching GPU's. It has a button to switch GPU's near the top left of the case (near the escape button).

Found another site about this thing!
    http://mag.udn.com/mag/digital/storypage.jsp?f_MAIN_ID=320&f_SUB_ID=2942&f_ART_ID=234312
I literally scoured every inch of that site (I'm Chinese) but it doesn't say anywhere what the damn video card is!!! Well, at least there are more pics.

    EDIT:
    There's also this site
    http://madeinchn.cn/thread-1-153933-1-1.htm

it says for the N61 and N82 "there are the GT 325M and HD 5730 Mobility among other options"... OMG, this better not mean the N82 is getting a GT 325M!!!
