    Update:
You only need 704 if you are using E6420 and E6320 CPU because it only fixed both CPUs won't able to boot from battery mode, they are still working on new BIOS for E6600 and E6700.

    More update:
X6800 processor, if you plan to build C90S yourself with X6800 you might get into problems that the 90watt AC Adapter provided by Asus does not have enough power and it result computer shutdown at AC power, it could also damage your AC adapter. It works fine with battery mode since it uses less power.

This is great news! It means that the Conroe has been a big fault here. Hopefully, the one Velocity Micro is sending out is the new one as well...

Great news (well sort of) thanks for all the info ken. I just have one last question (I know there's athread about it but no conlusion yet). How hot should the gpu get before we should get worried? Mine is 76 idle 83 light usage and 90 while gaming.

So hey I have the E6600 with the 601 Bios and when I have 1 gig stick in it it runs fine but still bluescreens in battery mode but I can at least use it but as soon as I stick the other 1gig stick in it runs funky. I get all of these error msgs and what not and the laptop will bluescreen at random spots. But when I first got my laptop it did not bluescreen with 2 gigs in and it wasnt tell after i installed the 502bios. Is my 1 gig stick bad? and is there anywhere in the bios I can do a check?

Ok one wild thought here bear with me:

if all the proccessor that asus test the c90 with are old revision that means they got hotter faster than the new revision ones. so they tuned the fans to react to cpu temperatures of 65+. but then many people are using new revision processor which are cooler so now fans kick in less frequently than expected. wouldnt this cause heat to build inside the c90 overheating something else which is casuing the bsod???

just thinking outloud nothing to base it on...

^ Possible. Yeah I noticed fans don't kick in for cpu until exactly 65.

pretty weird, mine kicks in as soon as it hits 58 oC from the BIOS reading temperature. I tested even with the case OPEN. Plus the BIOS temperature is close to the GPU temperature and no CPU temperature. I checked that when my BIOS temperature reaches 70 oC is exactly the same temperature I got on my GPU since my DUal CPU still on 55-57 oC.

Anyway, just happy that my Turbo gear trouble has to do just with compatibility with XP and not the Hardware. So the only thing left is the RAM reading of pc-4300 that VIcious already explainened why.

BTW, I dont have any issue at all with the battery. Im typing unplugged and even reboot my C90S without any trouble and I have an E6700 cpu.

    Regards,

    RG

does anyone have the actual motherboard ID? I can't seem to find it...also I'm just checking if this is just me but why do the cores identify as 1600mhz?
