I installed NHC on my computer, and I checked "enable ACPI control system" under ACPI tab, but it still says "ACPI control system is not yet configured for this system".
I searched on the author's site and googled, it looks like you need to download a file specific for your computer and save it under NHC/acpi directory?
I' a bit confused here.

Yes that's correct. ACPI is configured for a few systems (especially ASUS and Samsung because the author has owned these notebooks). For other notebooks you will have to write your own script. You need to have knowledge to do this: doing something wrong can cause serious problems.
Sometimes other people that use NHC have configured ACPI files for their specific systems, sometimes you can use those too.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Charlie.
The reason I asked is I want to find a program that will read my notebook temperatures (CPU, GPU, HD, etc), and also has fan control.
Right now I use speedfan and I get these readings when I play games.
Local Temp: 57
Remote Temp: 63
HDD: 60
Temp1: 67
I'm guessing the Remote Temp is CPU, Temp1 is GPU, HDD is HD, and Local temp, I'm not sure what it is.
When it's on idle, I get these reading:
Local Temp: 43
Remote Temp: 48
HDD: 44
Temp1: 44
The idle temperatures look ok, but I think it's too high when gaming. -
Those seem like pretty standard load temps to me.
The HDD temp is the only one I'd be worried about, and it shouldn't be a problem for short periods. As always, back up your data! -
I cannot even get my acpi readings with that microsoft tool they offer for later editing.

I forgot to mention my HD is a seagate 7200rpm upgrade.
What tool are you talking about ikovac? -
What notebook model do you have?

I have an A8Js.

You can make your ACPI script and use it in NHC as far as I know. If you read advanced faq here: http://www.pbus-167.com/nhc/nhc_advanced.htm
and download iASL compiler tool for retrieving acpi tables for your system you can modify them and make your system do things (like control fan, brightness etc...) in a way it didn't do before.
So I tried, and it didn't work - it cannot retrieve ACPI DSDT tables on my system. I guess that is the starting point in order to change them, right?
Or am I completely wrong here?
Cheers,

Don't even bother, if you want to make it work like that (you have to know about APIC and be good programmer...).
Best option is change the existing files, because brightness control for asus should be the same, although other controls I would not enable. -
Well i just edited the .xml file and the .class file as they were very similar to my system but not the same name. Changed all references of "A6T" in both files to "A6M" (z92m) and it all worked for my setup.
Totally love my near silent notebook

So for A8Js should I change them to A8Js or just A8J?

I looked at their forum already before posted here, no one has posted anything for A8Js.

First of all i wouldn't recommend using speedfan since it caused a LOT of problems for us A8Jm owners. To monitor temps etc u can use mobilemeter. If you want to do all that and check fan rpm's use asus' own software nbmonitor. Its available at: http://support.asus.com u just have to find it in there.
NHC APCI files?
