Hi all, I just got myself a new N20. This is my first vista laptop and I am really confused about the different power options. My other laptop is a W3J that I control using NHC.
1) The t6400 is constantly clocked at 2.00ghz even though I set is to maximize battery and dynamic switching. On my W3J, the clock speed switches from 1.00ghz to 2.00ghz only when needed. Is this normal?
2) I installed NHC and it seems to conflict with both the vista internal power management and power4gear. There was an error message saying "error on changing the CPU speed"
3) Anyone has an easy way to set up an easy power option? I just want it to have a maximum battery and maximum performance setting.

I found that to change the cpu clock, there is a clock modulation option in NHC but it makes it stuck at a certain clock speed. How can I make it switch automatically?

NHC is old and has compatibility issues with recent notebooks. I suggest, in order of preference:
a) Stick with the Vista power profiles. They are quite flexible, can control CPU clock, brightness etc.
b) Use the supplied Power4Gear program to control the CPU.
c) Use RMClock instead of NHC to control the CPU -- which is updated more recently but can also be buggy.
