    2 things.
    Pray for this...
    1. Your hd is dying/dead and you need to replace it.

    Hope it's not...
    2. Your mobo is shot and you need a new mobo or laptop.

Run an HD Diagnostics test. See the results.
If that shows nothing, then you might be screwed. :-(

****. I bought the HD used off ebay and it was shipped in a bubble mailer :(

It still has warrenty until 2008, but I don't want to take the time to have to replace it.

How can I test the HD? I don't have another laptop with sata connectors. Do I need to buy an adapter so I can hook it up to my main comp, or is there another way to test?

should I take out the HD and see if it will go into bios?

    EDIT:

I'm downloading seatools now, and it has a warrenty until 2010 actually

Most hdd manf. have free diagnoistic tools on there website which you can run off a bootable cd.
These will check the drive and spitout a error code for RMAing the drive if its faulty.
    a
    :)
If the drive is clean then its most likely your m/b as robfactory said
    :(

Hrm... wtf, I just got that on my fresh install on my Z96JS. Never got that on my Z63A. Might have something to do with the SATA HDD? Or maybe a BIOS issue? I have a 100.0GB Seagate 5400rpm which has been making weird clicking noises every so often ever since I turned it on, though.

Edit: Heh, my bad, it was trying to boot from my Z96JS driver disk in the DVD drive. Should fix that so it boots directly from the HDD...

Try booting the Windows XP CD and pressing 'R' when it asks if you want to install a fresh copy or repair an existing installation. This will take you to a command prompt where you'll want to type, I believe, 'fixboot' (without the quotes of course) If it's not fixboot, it will list a command to fix the mbr (master boot record) in the help.

It's very unlikely that you have a motherboard problem, your hard drive may be alright too.

Are you sure you're not POST'ing? It's very odd to receive an operating system specific error before the BIOS attempts to boot a device. NTLDR is short for NT Loader, which is just Microsoft's boot loader for NT kernels (Windows NT, 2000, XP)

By the way, SATA is SATA, you can put it in your desktop if it has an SATA controller and SATA power connectors. Just make sure it's well secured so it doesn't vibrate too much. That can do damage to the motor, the platters, the read/write heads, the actuators... It's just not good.

This happened to be with an HP ze1250.
It would boot to bios and I would run a diag. on the drive and nothing. This issue most of the time is an HDD error, but on laptops it can also be caused by the mobo.
If the HDD has no errors, it's the mobo and you will need to get it replaced.
What were your results from the tests you did?

Last time I saw that my neighbour's computer was infested by viruses.

What brand is it? I have used the Hitachi diagnostic program before it is fantastic, but It will only repair Hitachi drives.

I just got that too, the message appears only when the driver cd is in the slot for me. Im not sure what problems it causes, but I for one am having problems with fan speeds....

what version of bios are you running? im running 0703 with the errors, the standard on the asus website seems to be 0601?

Don't worry, that happened to me too, and it only happens when the driver cd is in the drive, (and u have changed the boot sequence in bios so that it checks the cd first, then HDD)

What is happening, is I think the laptop reads the cd drive as a hdd, since it contains all those drivers, so I am thinking it tries to boot off of it. Hence I believe it's not that big of a deal...

btw, since we're on the topic anyone have trouble with the harddrive driver installation, something about "Jrai scsi" driver not installed, my dad thinks they put the wrong driver since that's usually on PCs, plus he said that hard drives don't really need a driver installed, Windows has its own which is pretty good.

By the way....anyone else feel the camera is a bit dark and dull and also the mic is very quiet, not sensitive at all and doesn't pick up my voice.

dont pannic, I've seen this message before.

All i did to fix it was connect the HDD to a PC through USB and copy the NTLDR from my desktop and it worked fine (You just have to make sure that hidden files are visable in explorer, its located at c:\ntldr ). It happened when i reset after it froze during shutdown. Its happened on my desktop too before, but I had dual boot so just booted into the other windows installation and coppied the file across.

well thats what worked for me.

sorry i didn't get back to this for awhile.

I bought a second hd (figure i'd use the first for back ups) and the error went away so i'm guessing the first hd was bad- i will test it later.
