ok, well there are two laptops and i want to know if the extra $150 or so is worth the extra video card or not. Please comment on battery life too.

i will be playing the new command and conquer game tiberium wars, that is the only game that i am going to need to play on it (other than the command and conquer generals, but they are less graphically intense)

so, if the 8400 will work for that game (preferable on mid to high settings, but low is ok with me, i will probably set it there anyway to prevent lag) id rather save myself the $150

o yeah, and i guess the A1 has a T7100 and the X1 has a T7300 as well (but that isnt really going to be that big of a deal to me)

here are the links to the notebooks:

You'll be seeing a review for the Asus F3sv series notebook within two days, but I'd suggest getting the 8600. It may be a driver thing, but the performance is less that expected for the new cards.

it's always worth the extra money to get a better video card, the battery life will probably decrease 5-10%. but that shouldn't be problem as to it will only be a 10-20 minute decrease, and that is only if you are using graphics intensive applications.

Well, the processor does increase the price, even if you think there isn't much difference between the two speeds. But, for the gfx card the 8600 is more powerful. Up to you.

yeah it might be worth the extra money, but if the 8400 can play c&c tiberium wars id rather not have to pay

the sale at NCIX is guna be over in two days, so i wont be able to wait for the review... :(

The 8400 might be able to play tiberium wars, but if you want to guarantee yourself that you wont have any lag, I'd definitely go with the 8600.

Yes, and hopefully the drivers fix the performance issue. But, as it stands the 8600 is better, and think of it this say, you also get a slightly faster cpu too.

that might be nice, im going into programming in university, so if we have to build some big programs sometime that might come in handy (im not sure how complex the programs get though, i might not even notice)

    thanks for all the help
