I have a NX90Jq on pre-order from EXcaliberPC.com with no firm shipping date as of yet and was wondering if anybody else had received theirs or knows when Asus is officially releasing this product.

I ordered this laptop a month ago and still haven't received anything about shipping date. I'm also wondering if NX90 will comes with a i7-740QM CPU & maybe a Nvidia 400 series GPU.

By the way there's a model called N43JM which has a newer DX11 GT 435m GPU. Hopefully Asus will release a similar model to it.

Justin, we are eager for a video review… something that shows the NX90 actually exists!!!
Also, can I ask something (actually 2 things)? 1) Should we expecting the brushed aluminum model any time in the future (as opposed to the polished aluminum)?, and 2) I saw at xotic that you are offering a Bluray-RW as an upgrade. Is this slot in as the stock drive, and flush with the case? (I am concerned whether this will alter the cosmetic appearance of the laptop).

    Backpack or luggage? :D
Are you thinking about carrying it around? Or just for once every blue moon?

Asus why do you put a GT 335m on this laptop, I mean come on...with that price...at least give me something decent like GT 445m or even better, GTX 460m...oh and by the way if it comes with a newer model they should add intel sandy bridge as an option too. I can't wait to see this change in the future...

Why would you care so much about sandy bridge in such a laptop? Or in any other laptop with a mid-range and above discrete GPU, for that matter? I think SB will be great for ultraportables only.

I just saw the NX90 at Frys and though it is pretty it looks kinda garish with it's aluminum cover and the width of it also make sit kinda look well..ridiculous

Cannot compare to  Alienware laptops , though admittedly I am a fanboy of theirs :D

Maybe my wife would like it, I mean it makes a great mirror ;)

I like it for a multimedia pc, however it definitely needs brushed aluminum instead of polished, a single horizontal touchpad instead of two vertical ones, and a num pad...

A really nice review. Now with that price if you could get me a better graphic card and a RGB screen NOT A TN SCREEN, it would become perfect!!

Sl0519 -I agree with you completely. When I made the review I made sure to let my thoughts come through :) I also thought that the machine would come with maybe a GTS360M at least if not something in the mid level of the 400 series a 445 maybe? As it sits it is a pretty cool multi-media machine that is capable of running games at mid settings. Its availability on the other hand is a whole other matter!

Also on the screen I was pretty confused about its quality as well. I mean dont get me wrong it is not terrible, but I just expected it to be a much better for its price point.

Yeah. We should make this into a suggestion list and report it to Asus so they could make some changes in the future. Come on I really want to buy this laptop...hopefully they'll do something...

Thanks. I'll start out a list
    1. I'll just wait till it comes with sandy bridge... I assume that i7 produce a lot of heat, therefore is the reason why they put a mid-lower range GPU in this model. Please at least give i7 Sandy Bridge + GT 445m for next update.

    2. CMO1807 TN screen...very disappointed...
    black level: 0.6 cd/m² >_<
    brightness: 170 cd/m² >_<
    contrast ratio: 200:1 >_<
    (approximate)

    3. For such a high end laptop, no backlit keyboard??

3 is not that important to me, but I have no objection either.

    4) single horizontal touchpad

    5) num pad

    6) brushed aluminum (polished- are we kidding????)

    7) BR-RW drive

    Thanks. Update the list!

    In summary, next model should...

    1. give at least i7 sandy bridge + GT 445m (or above)

    2. screen quality needs to be much better (RGB screen highly recommended)

    3. backlit keyboard recommended

    * 4. single horizontal touchpad?

    * 5. number pad?

    6. brushed aluminum (should offer customization next time between brushed & polished)

    7. BR-RW drive (as an option)

    * 4 & 5: The design probably won't change, just so you know.

well, i am all in if i see these things...

if 4+5 is a problem, drop one touchpad and include a numpad in its place instead! that works too! :)

Unfortunately still no info on the next shipment. The last shipment was very small and we were one of the few sellers that received them. We will be checking on status again early next week.
