I right now shut the lid on my g50 and use a 19 inch LCD as the primary monitor. Was thinking about buying 2 22 inch monitors but curious to see if anyone been able to use 2 monitors on this laptop. I noice we only have 1 hdmi and only 1 VGA connector. I really don't want o use 1 analog and 1 digital signal. I would like to see if ne1 used an hdmi splitter or something of that sorts. Thanks for any input.

do /not/ shut the lid if you're going to be using an external monitor. the chassis of the laptop produces heat when in use- you're placing the LCD screen in contact with the chassis, decreasing the live of the screen.

Ok thanks for the tip.

An HDMI splitter won't work. You'd just get 2 feeds of the same image (think about it). If you use both the VGA and HDMI ports, the laptop monitor won't work. Otherwise, you can buy a Matrox DualHead2Go, which allows you to use 2 desktop monitors along with your laptop monitor.

yeah I think that will be the only solution, use the VGA and HDMI, I dont use the laptop monitor on my desk. I just wanted to keep everything in digital form, maybe I wont notice the difference when 1 is hooked on VGA and the other on HDMI.

Re: not shutting the lid:
I played GTA4 with the screen closed for hours at a time on a 108" projector screen. It was awesome. *ducks*
Never had two monitors hooked up; that would be interesting. AFAIK the 5870 from ATI is the only GPU that can do a multimonitor separate-screen setup with more than 2 monitors (if you follow what I'm saying). I'm not sure if the laptop screen is a permanent monitor on the G50vt, but I wish you the best of luck with the HDMI/VGA thing.
Ne1 hooked up 2 monitors to the G50vt
