Howdy! I am in dire need of a ASUS Z71A primary battery. The wear level of the existing battery is now at 57%. I am finding it difficult to find a retailer that stocks them-is anyone out there who can help?

Oi...seems a little pricey...but as Captain Kirk would say, "Suggestions?"

It was farking sad...I was showing off my ASUS notebook...and then the battery decides to go under, and then the automatic hibernation mode kicked in the middle of my programming lab....and the worse part...the AC Adapter was not readily available...oi

Oy is right- that's almost a 50% markup from the standard price ($100). But it's just supply and demand economics, I guess. While the vast majority of places are sold out of them, some Google searching reveals that there are still a few other shops with them in stock. However, the following shops are not all authorized Asus notebook resellers as Eddie is (1click2computers is an authorized reseller, and I put an asterisk next to that one. the rest are not), so shop at your own risk. But here are some other options:

Yeah, two things, I know you wrote to me this morning but everyone should hear this.

    1. Asus hasn't made the battery in over a year, meaning if you could even get one, life on it could be anywhere between 60% and 0%... right out of the box.

    2. We've had these on backorder with Asus for at least the last 6-7 months, Asus has been out of them for that long themselves, and since the model was discontinued last year, once stock ran out, that was pretty much it on the batteries.

So, even if someone still have one, yes you'll pay a lot for it, but life certainly isn't promised becasue it's certainly lost life in the period it's had to have been sitting..... but then again, you really have no other choice if your current battery is dead. Another note is that $100 is NOT the standard price, after the fiasco with Sony, batteries on a whole over the last year have gone up in COST almost 50%, so batteries that were selling at $110 a year ago are selling for $150+ now at a minimum... Asus price to us went up last February and they said it won't go down for another 6-12 months.... or at least until Sony can start producing batteries on the level they once did and therefore costs will come down everywhere again... It's supply and demand, but it's on a huge level, it's not like any of those guys are trying to screw you.... which in itself wouldn't be bad, but it's just certainly not the case.
