I have a 4 and a half year old HP that is starting to show it's age. I have researched and pretty much decided on an ASUS or a Mac, but most likely ASUS. I would like peoples opinion on which ASUS laptop would be the most suitable for my needs and also most reliable please. I mainly use it for Internet, skype video calls, DVDs, as well as word documents. I would prefer one that is somewhat fast and has a decent battery life with good wifi range, as well as not overheating easily. Thanks

If you want a decent battery, my personal experience, use Lenovo. X200 can live more than 8 hours

The u35JC is pretty good. The N82jq is a beastly 14-inch, but I don't know about battery life.

Or drop a PM to Ken. He can provide some good recommendations for you.

It looks like you wont be using it for anything really demanding like gaming, photo editing, engineering programs etc. For what you listed i would agree with Forge. Any of the ASUS U series would be a great choice. For a 13.3" check out the U30JC-B1 or the U45JC-A1 if you want a little bigger 14" screen.

if you can still find the ul30vt at a good price you may want to pick up one of those or get the upgraded version the u35. now that is if your not looking to have a cdrom drive.

I have been researching and I do like the U30JC as well as the U45JC. My laptop now is 17 inches which might make 13 inches a hard adjustment. As for the UL30VT i was actually looking at the UL80VT very closely yesterday and like it a lot too. Would it be worth it to wait for the U33JC/U43JC/U53JC (bamboo)? I really like the look and sound of it and it should be out before the month is over.
