Newbie here but I need help bad.

I'm thinking about buying the W7j [I have a 15" already and love it] but I'm scared about the glossy screen. I love the new Macbook as well because it's more of a matte. Can anyone who's used an Asus glossy screen compare the two for me?

Put it this way I can't stand the Sony's,Toshiba's, Hp's glossies. Is this more like those or more comparable to the Mac?

Thanks in advance - I can't sleep anymore cause I gotta decide already

^ what SRD said is correct, what you can do is go to a local store, and check out a laptop with a glossy screen, and one with a matte screen, and you can compare.

Generally all glossy screens are about the same from all brands, and all matte screen are the same from all brands. THere are exceptions, like the Z70va has one of the best matte screen, the V6va has a nice screen too.

The future glossy screen will try to reduce glare and mirror like reflections, i think the Benq S73 has this technology...not sure, cos i can't see it in real life =\.

    ohwell, hope this helps.

    Thanks,

Well, if you really can't stand glossy, maybe you should try the PortableOne's Transflective UVA display for an additional $399. It should reduce glare by quite a bit. Then again, for an extra $399, maybe you can find some other notebook with matte screen?

It is much appreciated. If anyone else still wants to chime in or can make a more direct comparison to the macs that are glossy but not at all reflective i'd appreciate that as well.
