I made the jump and installed Vista on my Asus machine. I had a few problems with the drivers, but i managed.
I noticed P4GX doesn't to really work, so i removed it hoping to use Windows own Mobility Center.
The problem is that i'm actually missing a Mobile PC option in CP and my power options are really limited. I can't adjust brightness or CPU speed or any of the sort. My Mobility Center look like this.

So, is there something wrong with my Windows? Is the service disabled or what?

Ok, it's my bad - i'm not used to Vista yet - i found the Mobile PC section.

However, this is everything i can change - i don't have a brightness section.

Also, my CPU is throttled all the time, i want some quiet - how can i throttle it down? Choosing another power plan does nothing...

    No one?

    Please, i need help.

It's getting really annoying not being able to control my notebook - brightness is not that important as i can adjust it through the Fn keys, but controlling the CPU speed is...and i can't :(

I've been searching but haven't found anything useful so far.

Windows doesn't much in the way of direct cpu speed user-control option, in either xp or vista, that I'm aware of - battery saving options may just lock it into the lowest frequency; that's what P4G was for, if you wanted cpu to run higher at a constant rate. For tighter control over cpu freq, you can try either Notebook Hardware Control or RM Clock. There are a few issues with both of these programs' function in Vista which you need to be aware of (and can find elsewhere), and I'm not sure whether there could be any problems with AMD processors and those software items, too. You could also try CPU-Z to check the cpu freq, but that won't control anything.

Thar's what i did : i tried NHC and checked with CPU-Z, but the CPU doesn't throttle down whatever i do, no mater from where i change the power plan (P4GX, NHC, Vista)
