I've got a budget of up to $1700s. What is the MOST powerful Asus notebook/laptop I can afford? Windows 7 home edition and Word 10 student need to be included in the price. Thanks in advance.

A g73 is their flagship model for gaming, probably also their most powerful. The n80 / n90 (?) is a high end model, but not particularly powerful for GPU.

Yes the G73 is their top dog. The A1 model with Office Student will push your budget though. Look at the G53, very similar but a 15.6" instead of 17.3" and in turn is less in price. The G53SW-A1 w/ Office student should be within your budget. Only downfall to that model is that it's not shipping yet. Hopefully we'll see them around end of this month but i'd bet more into May.

Or pick up an -x series, save a good $100-$200.
