Hi, I am brand new to the laptop world been using desktops since '98 or so. Due to space limitations and other factors I have decided to go the laptop route this time around. I want to order from Newegg since it's always been top notch service from them with free shipping and not tax for me. I have really been impressed by the Asus lineup and the PRICES for most of them. Now I really like to game, but don't always sweat over having max details because playing at low-medium is just fine for me when I can at least play.
I really wanted to stay under $1,000 for something decent that will at least last me this year and a little into the next.
These two models have caught my eye out of the bunch there:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220393
Now the hard drive space is more than enough for me since I barely use over 20 gigs for anything on my machines. Besides the viewing size those two look pretty close in specs. Any suggestions on which one would be the better choice?
I am not that crazy for ATI cards, but this one seems to be priced right at the moment:

Also one more question. This may sound very stupid, but I am not entirely sure. All of these they do have a port somewhere that allows me to plug an ethernet cable running from my cable model into the machine for home use correct?

Both the N50 and N80 are great notebooks and you should base your decision on your size preference between the 2.
Also check out resellers such as GentechPC, since they provide service just as efficient as Newegg's but with the added bonus of free technical support.
As for your ethernet question, yes, all Asus notebooks will have an ethernet cable. -
Thank you for that link I had no idea that website existed.
Do you think that third link with the ATI model would be any good?
Do most USB mouse hook right up to a laptop?
I also must say for everyone the machine will be used for games such as Battlefield 2 and the newer Call of Duty. -
not an expert, but just add a question for those who are
all three laptops provided by the host, their cpu, to me, it's kind of low, dont they?? (is there a list or chart of notebook cpu compare list??) I mean, graphic is important, but modern games, dont they need a better cpu?? -
Good point Roza I don't know exactly what to look for in a laptop cpu I am so used to desktops.

This gives rough outlines of processor performance. Ignore the desktop processors unless you plan on purchasing a C90 series notebook.
EDIT: Of course it's good to post the link.

Thank you for that listing it gives me a good overview on everything now.
From what I can see it looks like more money needs to be spent to get a little more performance which seems like the ideal thing to do at this point.
Can anyone tell me will Asus be putting new models out anytime soon? -
Well I checked out what Best Buy had and found a good price on this model:

I am probably going to order the model this afternoon is it a good model? Seems like the price is right at the moment. Can anyone tell me if it has a port somewhere that I can hook up some of my good computer speakers to? -
Most speakers work straight through the audio IN jack, next to the audio OUT and Mic ports. No laptop would dare leaving those ports out, since sound is pretty critical to everyday use... but if you wanted one more reason not to worry, the G50 is a gaming notebook, and the gamers (like me
) probably have the per capita highest use of headphones with their notebooks.
Need help on deciding or not between these two models.
