I'm looking at buying a laptop in the comming months. After first looking at the whole market I soon realized that ASUS was the best choice for manufacturor. A lot of features for a reasonable price. I don't have a lot of money to spend. I might be able to raise €1200 but certainly not a cent more.

I do have a lot of specific wishes. These are in no perticular order,

    - A widescreen display 14" minimum.
    - 512MB mimimum
    - Batterylife of 2 hours bare minimum
    - A decent graphics (games) performance
    - Build in Wifi

I have found three different laptops that interrest me and fall within my (tight) budget. (I think some of these are EU only)

    - A6Va, this is the best one but, obviously also the most expensive.
    - A6Vc, It differs from the A6Va by having a nVidia GeForce 6200 instead of the X700. It is €100 cheaper but the giude on this site says the GF6200 is "to be avoided". Is the money difference worth it to buy cheaper? Probably not.
    - A6Vm, New to the fold and available yet. Does this replace the A6Va or the A6Vc? Not sure where to put the GF7300 or what the laptop will cost but it is looking nice.

My questions are as follows (those I have not asked before). What kind of batterylife can expect from these models? Are there any other laptops (EU available) that I should look out for within my budget? Which one of the three above would you recommend and why?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you want a 14" widescreen, the W3v is the best and only choice you can make.....

If you want to step up to a 15.4", then your options open up a bit... Since you're in Europe I'd say W1vb/c would be #1, then M6va, then M7v, then A7v, then A6va.....

The A series offers some decent notebooks for the price, but I don't totally flip over them..... some of the better ones aren't in the US because Asus wants to keep them as the budget or mainstream models and save the upper end for other things.

Your budget is tight, and I think that a W3v may be able to fit into that price point if you play your cards right.. and it would be the nicest out of all of the systems in terms of build and portability.. and the graphics are certainly enough to play what you want to play.... it's also my favorite system and I basically have everything at my fingertips.

Ben: That W3 is our only hope...
    Yoda: No, there is another.

He's in the Netherlands, so the Acer Travelmate 3212WXMi is an option. Not as slick as the W3V, but it has a X700 and is about €200 cheaper (a bit above €1300). Worth a look if you like the current Acer models. (Personally I can't stand them. They just feel 'wrong' to me.) Good value, nonetheless.

wow~~ Acer TM 3212 is not bad and good price, it comes with a x700 video card, but W3V only have x600, i believe that Acer one is cheaper than Asus one.
Anyone have the Acer TM 3212WXMi, so that we can see what their review.
