    Hello,

I have an Asus M6V notebook computer which I purchased 2 years ago here in the UK. I need to replace my keyboard since some of the keys have come out and the key connectors are broken.

I contacted Asus UK. They can order the part from Taiwan which only costs approx £12 (25 USD) but will not sell the keyboard directly to me. Instead they want me to send my notebook to their repair centre who would have to order it from Taiwan themselves and charge me a further installation and repair charge bringing the total to approx £70 (150 USD) with probably 1 month waiting time just to replace the keyboard.

Does anyone know of any dealers that can sell me the original keyboard directly. I don't mind a US region keyboard neither do I mind ordering it from the US or wherever, as long as the price is reasonable and it can be shipped out asap.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The ASUS eStore only sells to people in North America... so I think you're out of luck there.
Maybe one of the resellers on the forum (BTOTech, GenTechPC, etc.) could sell it to you and ship it over.

I purchased my notebook here in the UK from a mail order firm and they don't sell the keyboard. I've found some Asus notebook keyboards on Ebay. However, they're shipped from China so I don't know if these are the real thing or some cheap keyboard. I'm very disappointed with Asus UK.

You should try also an ASUS reseller in the UK, they might order the keyboard for you. Otherwise some friend in the US, or Geared2play. You might even get it cheaper in the end including shipping from the US, than if the UK reseller orders from Taiwan.

It looks like its going to be very expensive to get an exact replacement model for my keyboard. There are only 3 keys which have come off, they can be pushed back on but the latch and connectors are broken so they come off. If I take a gamble and get an ASUS keyboard for another model and it doesn't fit, can I just remove the keys from the new keyboard and clip them onto my M6V keyboard? Will it work? Thanks.

I don't think anyone besides an ASUS (repair) engineer can give a definite answer as to whether they will fit...

If this helps (part #) I think this keyboard will fit: http://estore.asus.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=2504

It's out of stock though. But you can google by the part # maybe you find it somwehere else.

I found this in the Netherlands: http://www.zercom.nl/index.php?p=35&f=1&s=1&a=2256

It's a Belgian layout I think but the key connectors should fit, so you might be able to just exchange the keys.
