Does anyone have the actual part number for the S5 or z33a fans?
As per my other message, I am trying to source one to replace my noisy M5N fan with.
I have at very long last spoken to someone in the technical department at Asus UK who seems helpful. This is a breakthrough.
He's going to try to find out if they can order one of those fans for me. He's going to try to find the part numbers as well, but asked if I also had the specific numbers of the fans that we know are compatible and we know will work.
I've told him the S5 fan (but I don't know whether it's S5N, or just S5, or whether there's another letter) should be OK.
I also said that the z33 one is fine, but we don't have z33 here, so I said that I think M5A should be the same - but again I'm not sure it's 100% identical in all respects including fan, so again a part number would be useful, so that we can compare and make sure it's the same.
If I have a choice between the S5 and the M5A, is there a reason for choosing one over another??
Of course he's not actually agreed that they will do the swap for me, but it's looking somewhat more promising that he's at least going to look into it and consider it.
So any help from anyone who has one of those computer or access to the parts, or who has done the swap already, would be great. thanks.

The part number for the S5n thermal module is: 70-N8V1J1000
The M5a is the same as the Z33a, but the fan is not what you're looking for. -
Thanks, for that - so it's the S5N that I want?
I'm not sure what you mean about the Z33A though - I thought that was the fan that was supposed to be better? If I've got that wrong, then I've given the guy bad information, as I think he's looking into seeing if he can get the M5A one for me.
Was there any other fan that was suitable? (Or whatever part it is that I'm needing to replace - I don't know quite what the difference is between replacing the fan or the blades or whatever). So any specific information you can give me about exactly what I want to ask them to order for me would be great. (hopefully they'll get the S5 one you listed above, but in case there are others, or in case they come up with differnt part numbers to that, I want to have all the information I can!).
thanks. -

You can do what you want, but the fan on the Z33a and M5a are the same (those are the same notebooks)..... but they're not the same fan that's on the S5n... They're different than what you have, but not what you want. The bios is different and those have different thermal settings..... For your application, you want the S5n's thermal module and you want to physically take the fan out of that and swap it with the fan in yours.

OK, thanks. I had thought from the other thread that someone said the z33 fan was fine for what I needed as well. But I'm quite happy to take your word for it, since you're the one who's done this before!
I'll email the guy and tell him that it's the S5 one, and give him the part number. And that they need the fan to be physically swapped. I wonder if there is something else that they'll need to do as well - it's not just that my current fan is so noisy, but it doesn't seem to be working much, either, making the laptop extremely hot. So perhaps there's something more wrong, and it's not just the fan that needs replacing? Does that sound plausible?
Fingers crossed for me that they can get hold of one and that it will work!!! -

The Z33 fan is fine, but it's for other reasons....

...such as??
(So, it's no quieter than the M5N one, then, which is the crucial point for me, is that right?)
And based on the description of the problems I'm having at the moment (horrible noise, but also extreme heat), does the S5 fan sound like the best solution, and is it just the fan that will need to be replaced - or does the heat problem suggest that they'll need to look at something else as well?
Need part number for S5 or z33A fan
