hi, this is my 1st thread. i am from malaysia. i already have asus a3n. and i satisfy with my asus. this week, i will buy another asus notebook. i have a few questions regarding asus.

    1. it is about battery calibration function. do all models have this thing?

    2. i confused with certain shop in malaysia which sell asus notebook. according to pricelist which i took from that shop, i have selected 3 models before i finalize them. in the pricelist, i interested with these models, A3000, A3E16 and A6N16. but when i visited asus website, i didnt see model names like that. is it A3E16 same with A3E and A6N16 same with A6000Ne? from those 3 models, which one is better?

Yes the A3 and A6 are the same, those other numbers and letters just denote things like cpu speed and your area in the world etc, best idea is to check the specific specs on each machine to make sure you get what u want....eg cpu speed, hdd size, amount of Ram.
As for which is better you will need to give us a bit more info about what you plan on using the machine for, also a quick list of specs will help increase the number of responses as most will not remember these off the top of their head.
Good luck and welcome to the forum

i think u are right. because in the pricelist, both A3E16 and A6N16 are powered by intel centrino 1.6GHz. basically, i do lots of programming and just use it to do my works or bring it to class. my friend used asus A3000N and and he said asus is better based on my budget. i am quite impressed with this notebook, no problem at all even almost 1 year he bought it. the battery also performs well and he said asus notebook has Battery Calibration Function in BIOS that does not has at any notebook like acer. but he not sure whether all asus notebooks have this function. anyone can knows about it?

    A3E/A3E16 Specs from Asus website

    specs from pricelist

    speed: 1.6Ghz
    memory: 256mb
    hdd: 40GB
    optical: dvd dual

A6N16/ A6000Ne Specs from Asus Website

    specs from pricelist

    speed: 1.6Ghz
    memory: 512mb
    hdd: 40GB
    optical: combo drive

asus A6N16 is more expensive than A3E16. even in the asus website, i saw A3E16 using chipset 915.

Well the newer chipset isnt something to jump over coals for, the performance betw. the older and newer chipsets is almost non-existent...in fact the newer one draws more juice thus battery life is a bit shorter. The only problem I see with the A3 is the lack of ram, 256 isnt really enough to work efficiently on windows...I would strongly suggest getting at the absolute bare min 512.
As for the battery stuff...never heard about it, maybe justin can shead some light.
Thus there really isnt any difference betw the two, since the A3 is cheaper you probably will get more bang for buck with this model, thus I say go the A3 and spend the difference on more ram!
