I received my laptop on Wednseday and until now used it only while plugged to the ac power, setting it up. Tonight I plugged it out to try and use the laptop on battery alone, and the moment I touched the laptop to lift it from the table, the power simply stopped at once. I plugged it back in, turned it on, plugged it out, touched the computer and again it stopped working. The same effect happened whenever the computer was plugged out and I touched it, even when just starting to close the screen. According to the battery meter it is close to being fully charged.
Any idea what's causing this? Of course the problem is that till Monday there's no one to talk to in technical support.

There could be a short of some sort. It shouldn't be an overheating issue because it works fine connected via AC. It's possible the battery connectors aren't making full contact or there's loose connection. Try pulling the battery out and popping it back in to make sure it's latching correctly. Does the system power on at all when just using battery? If it does and then turns off again after you touch it, it would seem that the battery is losing contact or a board in the unit is loose causing a connection problem. If that's the case, you're gonna need to get the unit repaired/replaced.

You'll be happy to know that i've delt with this problem with my own M6N and its actually quite simple. The newer models of the M6N have a problem where the battery does not attach to the latch properly, it is loose. When the unit is lifted from the right side it switches off because the battery becomes disconnected from the unit. The solution to this is to email or call Asus and they will send u a pdf document and also a small piece of mylar to attach to your battery. I just got mine in today and the problem is solved
. I can email the document that they sent me if u need but its pretty much useless until you get the actual piece of mylar. This is a known problem so dont worry about any costs or anything, hope this helps!

Well, I called Asus already on Monday and they said the problem was as you described. They sent me the piece of mylar which I received today. After a bit of fidgeting I managed to put it into place and it indeed solved the problem.
Two things though: 1. Why couldn't they fix it in advance and add the mylar to all batteries? 2. I paid the store I bought the laptop from extra for installing and checking everything, so they should have discovered this problem before shipping the laptop to me, yet they didn't. -
To be honest i didnt notice the problem until i had the unit for a few days, and even then it only happened when i was moving around and i dont move around often with this thing after all its somewhat ment to be a desktop replacement. When i brought it back to the store they told me that it was because i was moving it, thats why it was switching off. They said well if u move it like that of course its gonna switch off. I almost punched that guy in the face lol, then i just decided to give asus a call and they came to my rescue
.
