Warning, not for the faint of heart!
My friend was trying to pelt me in the back of the head with one of these and missed.
This is what my screen's supposed to look like.
This is what it looks like now!

I'm in the process of contacting ASUS and my reseller, but a 3-year extended warranty probably doesn't cover flying chocolates. It looks like I'm going to have to buy a replacement screen and put it in myself.
Does anyone have links to replacement screens for an A8Js and perhaps schematics to assist taking the thing apart without damaging something?
-
aside from the whole damaged screen thing, that's pretty damn funny. what'd u do to your friend?
-
Yowza!
Killer chocolate
Here's the LCD from ASUS's estore.
ScreenTek's site has them too. -
On a side note, she's got quite an arm. I think she should tryout for my struggling Milwaukee Brewers (their bullpen could use a decent righty). -
well, "her" changes everything. fielder's having a helluva year.
-
Haha i'm hungry
-
Ouch... that looks bad. I doubt Asus will cover that... if only you had purchased in a couple of days ago, then you'd have the whole "accidental warranty" coverage.
As for any sort of assistance... perhaps you can ask your retailer to see if they can get a disassembly manual for you. It shouldn't be too difficult... although I've never played with an A8 series notebook before. -
Girls don't understand........................ sorry man, these LCDs are pretty costly
-
Sorry to see the screen like that. You might want to see if you can get an assembly map online or straight from Asus. It'll help alot with all the little things as well as putting the new screen in. -
-
i was thinking the same thing....
seeing pictures like that make me cringe -
Now, before making any decision, is she hot? If not, have her pay for it!

Keep the friend, ditch the screen (computers are as common as candy)
(Friends aren't) -
YEah, keep friend, this kind of friends are indeed not common, next time they will burn you house. Who knows ?
-
Wow, you guys are harsh. Ditch the friend, eh? Suppose its "good" she broke my screen and not yours.
Found a disassembly guide for anyone interested, c/o Crowfield... goodness I love NBR.
Also found some good deals on screens @ eBay. Looks like I've found my next weekend project. -
what program did you use to create that apple-like bar?
-
Object Dock?
-
eeps, that looks bad . . .
btw, agree with the keep friends part . . .
gl in getting the screen fixed -
Rocket Dock > Object Dock
Let her pay for it...lol. Don't be an enabler. -

wow so many sexist people here
people are people, id feel bad if I broke a friends screen. Even if it was an accident I would take responsibility for what I had done and find a way to replace/fix it. I mean its definitely not there problem if I broke it right?
Anyways first step is to call Asus and explane the situation and see what they can do, often times carefully chosen words can get you very far. -
-
yep, you break it, you pay it.
ask her how she wants to repay you, with $ or with her body... -
What wallpaper is that?
-
I can see the porn website already, starving girls who can't afford the PC repair bills must now shell out their bodies in exchange for the repair costs. Servicing hardware for repairing hardware. -

Nestle CRUNCHed my screen... now what?
